About Post Graduation Work Permit (PGWP)
Work in Canada after you graduate!
International students may be eligible for a post-graduation work permit (PGWP) if they graduated from a designated learning institution (DLI) and want to stay in Canada temporarily to work.
Graduation from a DLI doesn’t automatically make International Students eligible for a PGWP. Students need to study at public colleges which have eligible programs.
How long is a post-graduation work permit valid?
The length of your PGWP depends on the level and duration of your study program, as well as the expiry date of your passport, whichever comes first.
Students who completed a program of less than 8 months are not eligible for PGWP.
Students who completed a program of more than 8 months, but less than 2 years may be eligible for PGWP that’s valid for up to the same length as their study program.
Students who completed a program of 2 years may be eligible 3-year PGWP.
Students who graduate from master’s degree programs of less than 2 years (8 months minimum) may be eligible for a 3-year PGWP.
